My laptop is playing up?

Hi, well my laptop started playing up yesterday when it showed "the blue screen of death" (as i like tom call it) saying that windows had been deleted. I turned it off and tried again after an hour and it was fine, a bit slow but fine all the same, then just before i went to bed last night it did the same thing-and again i did what i did the first time and managed to get it back up and running. Im worried that it's going to happen again, what if the problem persists?. I've got a guarantee from the shop i bought it from, if i took it to the shop will they be able to help me?.

Also, any ideas what caused it to be like this-a dodgy download perhaps?.

The BSOD can be caused by many factors, the most common being dirty hardware, or damaged hardware. Another reason could be if you are missing or have a corrupted system file, if none of those could be your reason your laptop might have not shut down properly.

When your computer gets the BSOD could you write down the error code it displays?

it should say what file e.g.

example.dll error (x0012400124)

This is due to improper shut down

might be when u switch off ur book u didnt do it properly

or there must be anyother hardware problem..

try reinstalling OS if the problem persisits..

Sounds as if you have got a virus maybe from a download,

You can try webroot programs to try and get rid of the virus and also norton or which ever anti-virus program you use.

See if you can get hold of a Trojan Remover program there should be plenty out there.

When running any anti-virus or spy-ware detectors you are better booting in to safe mode then running the programs that way you only have a minimum of drivers and programs running.

But if all else fails you may have to re-install your Operating Software(OS). If you have a copy..
