My laptop!!!!!!!!?

was taken from the cops about 5-6 months ago and im not sure why...as far as i know i didnt do nothing wrong and i have a myspace and facebook account and they changed the passwords so i cant get into them which i find that kind of strange...but should they have dont something by now since they took it about 6 months ago or will i just never get it back....at the time i was at work and my dad was home and my dad gave it to them and they didnt give him a reason why they took it...i have not heard anything from anyone.....can someone tell me if ill get it back or not and did they have the right to take it and would i be able to get it back if i really tried

from the looks of it no. go down to the station with your dad and explain what happened and them ask why.

Do you have the serial number on the laptop? That will probably be the only positive way to identify the laptop. If you know anything about that specific police officer (name, badge number, etc..) mention it to the police as well, so they can help you figure out what's going on.

If you did nothing wrong I truthfully have a hard time believing a police officer would just take the laptop. But regardless, dial the non-emergency number, and explain your situation, if you have the serial number give it to them as well.

Ok First you should try and call the police department and ask them what is going on. Or go down there and ask them. Technically they have no right unless they have a warrant so you should ask for a copy of it. If they do not have one then you may have a case. However since your father did give them laptop it may be nothing you can do except call them.

If this story is true, i'd say you got scammed and it wasn't really the police who took your laptop.
