My laptop won't detect any discs i put in the cd drive?

i put in a blank disc and it wont detect it its the same with a normal cd every disc i enters isnt being detected by my laptop whats wrong with it

  1. I had the same problem and I needed to put norton on there but luckily I took my laptop to Best Buy and the Geek Squad fixed it, they went in and found it. And I haven't had problems since, the problem you are having is that it isn't installed in the computer for some reason, it was taken off, they told me it was because of a virus and mabye that the limewire I had did it. I don't know if that is true, but if you bought it from Best Buy and have your reciept then they will do it free for you. Good Luck!!!


  2. Sounds like you have dry connections between the computer and the DVD/CD drive.  Soak your computer in water (remove the mains connection first) overnight, then let it dry out and it will be fine again

  3. the problem is your ejecting your disk before they have even loaded, always go-to computer to eject the disk and make sure cd/dvd drive safely restores, if it doesn't simply click the refresh button (in vista) or restart your computer.

  4. there should be this clear little eye looking thing in the middle of the drive slide that one way and try it again.. if it doesnt work slide it the other way
