My laptop wont connect to the internet?

it wont connect wireless......dsl....dial-up....NOTHING!... this is a brand-new laptop......a week old....and has never been connected to the internet before......when i put the dsl cord in it it says that a problem occured....when i click "diagnoe the problem" it tells me that there is no problem??? wtf?? has anybody had a similar problem.....please help me......if i go to the "geek squad" they'll charge me $250 to just look at it.....please....im desperate!!!

If you just bought it there should be some kind of return/rebate policy to get a new computer.
