Question:

My large screen tv does beautifully. Will I have to get rid of it???

I just bought a digital converter and looks like I will need four inputs on my tv (which really gives good viewing). But it only has an antenna input. If I have to get rid of it we will be sick as our SS income is already pushed beyond limit. If we have to suffer, just how many other low income people will suffer? I predict that we will have many riots throughout the USA if older tvs can't be used, and their will be many break-ins to steal newer tvs.

Why were we not told that our tvs need more than one connection?

  1. Thats funny how important television seems to be in your life.  Pick up some books.  Paint a picture, pick your nose, all would do much more for you than your tv.

  2. LMFAO! There won't be riots or break-ins lol, any tv made in the last like 10 years will work fine, thats about 90% of the population right there, 5% of the population doesn't even watch tv. The other 5% can't afford a tv to begin with lol.

  3. You will be able to use it. The box that the government is giving is for analog TVs so if your TV is digital it will continue to work.

  4. Hold on here...you don't need to get rid of your TV set....

And you NEED to read your instruction booklet, BECAUSE all you need to get the Digital Signal into your TV set is an antenna, the converter and ONE OF TWO choices of Video Delivery to your TV SET !!

    NOT BOTH!!

That converter box allows you to connect a coaxial RF cable to your TV's Antenna input and watch TV on CHANNEL 3

    OR

You can use the THREE Video RCA connectors on Video 1 on your TV set.....

The yellow red and white connectors on the converter deliver Video - Right Audio - Left Audio to your TV's  Yellow Red and White connectors on the back of the TV set...just color match them and note what input number you connected it to on your TV set.....

Then select either Video 1 2 or 3 on your TV's remote.....

Obviously using your TV's Channel 3 RF is easier, because it's exactly the same way we have connected VCR's to our TV sets since the 1980's.....and our Game players...

So just connect the OUT TO TV connector to your TV's Antenna connector and use your TV remote and select Channel 3....

And please....take the time to read the instruction booklet, because it HELPS YOU to set it up....

  5. I'm sorry. . . I'm really mad about this :(  Is it possible to connect it to a VCR or something?  I have not seen the digital converters yet, but they sound like c**p. . . With all the hype the government and others are doing about global warming, to please recycle and reuse. . . Why in the world would they want people to have to throw out perfectly good television sets?  Sorry to answer your question with questions, but I'm shocked. . . Good luck to you, hopefully you will be able to fix the problem cheaply and without loosing your current nice TV :)

    God bless!!!

Edit:  It would work, but it does seem rather silly to have to buy a converter for a converter :)  And nobody should be laughing, because our older citizens worked very hard for the pitance of social security they receive. . . It is very sad, and I have many family and friends that are suffering because of it.

  6. Chill out. Your TV will be fine. And there will not be break-ins and riots because we are talking about ******* TELEVISIONS. Get Real? Good luck.

  7. There switching to digital from analog. Its not HD (high definition). Who told you knuckleheads to throw out your tv sets.

Even if the box you get from the goverment doesnt have a cable connection all you have to do is get a modulator like greg said.  Take you 3 cables from the box to the modulator and then hook the coax out from the modulator to the coax in on the set. Even if you had a set from the 70s it would still work with a transformer.

  8. There are different converters available.

  9. Just to ask, why is there no primary income in this household?

    - But if you tv have the digital converter box you are ok. and is you have multiple devices, just daisy chain them to work with you tv.

  10. I'm mad about it too. I wish I had answers for you because then I'd know!

  11. you just have to buy a converter box which you plug into the single antenna hole and it will give you video and audio holes, and also a hole for an antenna and a hole for just a connection to a tv  which can be used for the digital converter

  12. Just buy a Video Component Adapter RF Modulator from Radio Shack, Fry's, Best Buy etc.  Problem solved.

  13. I have been griping about this changeover too.  With everyone in such bad financial shape it is irresponsible fore the government to mandate that everyone spend money on a luxury like HD.

I won't pay for cable either.

We in Southern California get many stations from Mexico.  I think it is just a matter of time before they offer programing in English.  They could have a tremendous "market".
