My last attempt. What's the secret?

As some of you know, I worked for a small railroad in New York. I moved out of state and got a warehouse job, but I want to keep my hand in the railroad game. There's a shortline in the area that told me, "Hey, we could use some weekend crews. Come by and fill out an application."

Well, I gave them my resume loaded with seven years of experience and a clean record, along with some really strong references. I've been calling them for weeks, unable to get a response on the status of my application. Tomorrow morning I'm going to play the rest of my cards and just walk in there, and I'm not sure what to expect. I know a background check doesn't take four weeks, and I know for fact they're shorthanded. What could be their reason for not contacting me again? Call me frustrated, but sheesh.

  1. they only want to hire there friends from Mexico

  2. maybe someone was more qualified

  3. usually that means that they are either not interested in hiring another person at all or they did not like you and do not bother replying.

  4. There are only two possibilities, my friend;

    A)  they're not interested, or

    B)  they're a totally flakey outfit that you wouldn't want to get mixed up with anyhow.

    But, don't give up.  You have to go for whatever your endeavor may be.  The only thing you'll ever get handed to you is a bill or an income tax form to fill out.

  5. good luck i will pray that u get what u want need i loved trains as a kid i still do. Economy is bad now that may explain delay

  6. Ask them. Maybe they are very short on money!
