  1. could be french...just a guess

  2. Birth certificates, if available, are a good place to begin tracing your ancestry.

If birth certificates are not available, you may have to start interviewing (talking to) every family member from first cousins, second cousins, aunts, uncles, or anyone living who might have known your parents/grandparents.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (which most people refer to as the Mormons) has the most extensive geneological archives in North America, maybe even the world. These records are available to anyone who wants to access them. If you have a Mormon church in your city/town, contact them. You may have to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah to access these records; but, if you really want to find out about your origin, it will be worth the trip.

  3. Do you or your dad have access to his birth certificate (your dad's) I'm not sure about American birth ceritficates but the Australian ones have the name, occupation, age and birthplace of both parents.

This may be a good starting point. As it will still have the birthplace of your grandfather even if he subsequently became naturalised.

Also is Molliver you nana's or your grandfather's name. If it is your grandfather's name then it will definitely be on your father's birth certificate.

  4. Mindy, in 1910, there are just a few of them in the US census, those of age to be immigrants, say they were from Russia.  Interestingly (not proof of anything) 2 guys had draft registration cards for WW1, both were shown as having medium height and brown eyes.  Your dad's approx. time of conception would narrow down a time frame to be looking, for possible candidates (if you wanted to be doing that).
