Question:

My last name is spelled incorrectly on my plane ticket!?

My boyfriend's dad ordered our plane tickets for us and he spelled my last name wrong! We are leaving tomorrow and I'm worried they won't let me on the plane. He called Traveolcity and they said that they couldn't change it and to just bring an extra form of ID. Is that correct or do I have to call the airline company? The mis-spelling is really not that big of a deal-the first letter is wrong. Like instead of Wilk it's Dilk (example).

  1. you have to call the airline...if it is your surname, Travel Agent unable  to change for you  . But for internal flights within the country should be ok they would let you on. Not international travel. I work for an airline before.

  2. should be ok. that happened to me and i still got on. but i was going domestic not international.

  3. Call the airline. They may not be able to change it, but they will make a note in the booking and it will be ok.

  4. It takes like 2 minutes to pick up the phone and dial the airline. Are you really going to show up at the airport without a clue and possibly miss your flight because you relied on the people at yahoo answers?

  5. OMG, this is so not OK!

The first answerer is abundantly correct!

Call the airline and push them to make the change.  This will save you stress and the possibility of getting some TSA agent that thinks he or she works for the CIA.

A travel agent can make the change, but they have to call the airline.  The only advantage a travel agent has is that they know what to say and how to say it.

Call the airline, please!  You will make ME feel better.

  6. It is fine
