Everyone is saying I am "technically" 7 weeks pregnant because of my last period. But people don't understand that I had never had s*x until my wedding night which was only 3 1/2 weeks ago. So that is as far as I can be.

I know everyone thinks that you have to conceive 2 weeks after your period but this just isn't true. So how many weeks am I truly?

  1. Take a pregnancy test and see a doctor. They do count backwards to the last period, but can change that date if you know the exact date of conception or based on the size of the fetus and your hormone levels.

  2. If you are pregnant, you are almost 8 weeks along as of this Friday, August 15. Due dates are calculated from the last period, not from intercourse. And you're so right, 2 weeks from your period might be an average, but how many of us are "average."  ;-)

    If you're pregnant, congratulations!

  3. doctors count from the last time you had ur period.  but what is the fun in getting pregnant the first time you have s*x?  u guys didn't even take time to enjoy s*x.

  4. A pregnancy is really 40 weeks.....which equals 10 months.  I know it sounds wrong but doctors begin counting a pregnancy from the date of your last period, not from the date of conception.  Everyone is right, you are 7 weeks along.  Get to a doctor to make sure that you get proper prenatal care.  Though a pregnancy test is positive, you need to make sure that it is a vital pregnancy (meaning that there is a heartbeat).  If not, steps need to be taken or you risk infection.

  5. First of all, have you even taken a pregnancy test? You could be late just due to all the stress and excitement.

Second of all, you will get great answers over in the Pregnancy section. They can explain the whole thing.

The way it works is pretty stupid. The doctors count back from the first day of your last period. So even if you weren't pregnant yet, they still start counting weeks then. Most people are considered by doctors to be 2 or 3 weeks - even if they had not yet conceived! So if June 20th was the last day of your period, you are actually more than that - it has to be the first day of your period. Stupid, huh?

But trust me - go to the pregnancy section here.

  6. You can't figure out exactly how many weeks you are, but assuming you conceived on your wedding night, here is the math: Subtract 2008 06 20 from 2008 08 13. This gives you about 53 days, which is about 7.5 weeks. However, that seems a bit strange to me that you are actually pregnant. Eggs only live 24-48 hours after you ovulate. Sperm lives much longer...

Something isn't adding up with the math here....

  7. because there's no exact way to pinpoint the day conception took place (it may have been the day after your wedding night as the egg is viable for 24 hrs) dr's start counting the from your last period.

Your delivery date will also be an estimate...it's not exact.

And I would take a pregnancy test & have a gyno exam.....My first period after my first marriage was quite late, and I'm normally like clockwork (until menopause hit)...sometimes a sudden change in life can delay the onset.......good luck.

  8. awww. you stayed a virgin till your wedding night! how sweet

  9. Then you are probably 3 1/2 weeks. You'll find out a more definite answer when you get your first ultrasound.

  10. You are considered 7 weeks, as a pregnancy is 40 weeks or 10 months since it goes by the first day of your last period. I know how it seems strange, I'm 17 weeks at the moment, but its only been 14 weeks since the actual "conception".

It's possible to fall pregnant at any time during your cycle, despite what people say. Don't be concerned, and congratulations for your joy.
