  1. When I bought my property  years ago it has bald patches of lawn grass here and there in a compacted soil. First thing I do is punch holes with a fork in the ground to loosen it lightly

then scatter it with lan or superphosphates then water sufficiently until everything turns green. Watering is the key to maintain it until it establish itself then it becomes low maintenance. Be patient, it will grow.

  2. Seen commercials for "Patch Perfect". Suppose to grow anywhere! Haven't tried it yet, but  I'm considering it. AS it grows it's suppose to spread well too.

  3. Have your lawn Hydroseeded.  As long as you water it it will grow.  And the good companies guarentee their work so if the grass doesn't grow they will come back and re-spray at no additional charge until the grass grows.

  4. If you are reseeding only do that in the fall. have your soil tested

for nitrogen phosphate and potash . these all need to be adequate for grass to grow. with this new info you can figure out what kind of fertilizer to use about a month before you reseed. you may also will want to check the pH level of your lawn see what it is if its high you might want to use a fescue type or if its lower a Kentucky blue grass but pH can be adjusted with lime

then after all that is balanced try dethatching then seeding. Dethach about 1-2 inches down
