My lawn mower's not working?

I have a lwan molwer and 1 day, it just wouldn't start anymore. I tried replacing the spark plug but there's still no progress. Everything seems to be in order but I just couldn't find anything wrong. I've also noticed that a few drops of gas is leaking at the side when I'm trying to start it. Can somebody please tell me what's wrong?

  1. For the fuel to ignite it must get into the cyclinder where it is sparked ...hence, ignited. however, fuel is not gasoline ( of itself). Fuel is gasoline mixed with air. So you must be making fuel and it must be making it to the cyclinder and it must be getting sparked.

Did you check the air filter to be sure it is not blocked, I used to clean them out with straight gasoline then rinse them in soapy water...today I guess they'd tell you " not to use gasoline for cleaning" and just use soapy water...

Pull your spark plug, with the plug removed reattach the wire to it, using rubber handled pliers hold the plug so the other end is almost touching the metal frame. You should see a spark if the plug is good when cranked.

If you know the air is making it in, you know the spark is good, and you know the gasoline is fresh and proper for this engine. Then there can only be one of the following:

    1. Timing requires adjustment . . .(easy)

    2. Gaskets need replacement  . . (easy)

    3. Careurator needs replacement / rebuilding  . . .(medium Difficult)

    4. Block has a crack  .  .  .  .  .  .  .  .  .   .   .  .  .(Maximum Difficult)

    5. Piston ( rings) / Valves require replacement  . .(Maximum Difficult)

  2. ethanol in gas does not work well in mowers, weed eaters, boats etc.

  3. Bad fuel line?
