Question:

My lawn tractor wont start i turn the key and all i get is a clicking sond

i put the battary on the charger and it says it is good but it wont start what shoud i do next?

  1. Check under seat,most riders have a kill switch when you get off seat. Make sure it is working...


  2. If the battery is good and holding a charge, you have a connection problem. Clean the terminals well, and the battery posts also. If you still get the clicking sound, try the connections to the starter

  3. Clean all connections at the battery and at the starter with sand paper. You must take them apart first. If still no good then your starter may be bad.

  4. first, make sure the engine turns over with a breaker bar on the end of the crank, second, make sure the battery charger is actually accurate and check the voltage of the battery of the DMM, lastly, check the connections at the battery and starter for loose/corroded connections...

    If all is well, pound on that starter with a hammer(dont be affraid to hurt it) and try starting, it may break it loose from its deadspot

  5. Its not the battery. Sounds like the ignition went bad.
