I mean how come I have to use differently powered lenses for each eye. What does it suggest? Does that mean my eyesight is really poor?

  1. That can be quite normal.  I am pretty nearsighted and my right eye is weaker than my left, and my right eye is my dominate eye.  One time my right was around -5.75 and my left was -3.75.  But over the past few years since I turned 40, my far has improved, but my near has gotten worse.

  2. All it suggests is that your eyes didn't develop the same way.

It is very common to have two different corrections needed.

It doesn't mean your vision is poor , it just isn't as good in your right eye as in your left.

    It's nothing to worry about.
