When I go for a run, my legs usually feel extremely heavy. I feel like they're weighing me down. This shouldn't be, right?

  1. its cuz ur muscles are tired

    n yes its normal

just run more n eventualy ur muscles will get stronger n wont hurt so much when u run

  2. Throw in some strides at the end of your run, and then the next day your legs will feel a little more lively

  3. Thats how they SHOULD feel, it not lactic acided, its the h+ ions caused by lactic acid. Its natural, and lets you know your running hard.

  4. This is because you've just started running and your legs are like "AAARRRGHHHH". You can't really stop this but if you keep running for a bit longer your legs will settle down and feel better!

  5. Erm, i don't think ponderous is the right word!

But, it sounds like a build up of lactic acid in your leg muscles. This is perfectly normal - this happens to everyone during exercise.

Have you just started running? If so, then you will need more exercise before you can run long distances without getting that heavy feeling. Your muscles need to become used to the exercise.

When does this feeling occur. If it is right at the beginning of your run, you need to take short runs, gradually building up the distance to train your muscles. If it is towards the middle of your run, this is perfectly normal. You should just take a short break and keep exercising so that you can run for longer without getting that feeling.

    Good luck!

Just to reply to "I am the spam"...it IS the lactic acid. h+ ions are formed by any acid. All acids produce h+ ions.
