My leopard gecko bit my other one?

i had both of my leos for about 1 month and a half and they seeemed fine.. i eavin saw them mating once..... i was feeeding them mealworms when won of them (hes a bout a 1/2 inch bigger) bit the other in the neck!!!??? i figgered if they were mating (on top of each other tails wrapped around) were boy and girl :-( lz help best answer 10 pnts

  1. yes they were more than likely mating i would suggest u seperate them as over mating and violent mating can lead to the death of the female. either seperate or get other female so the male can share the love (if u get another remember to get a bigger tank)

Leo's hunt by movement, so your male may have seen the female move and bit her instead of a mealworm.  If they exhibit mating behavior you will see the tails wrapped around eachother.  If they are fighting you will see one bite the other and hang on or repeatedly bite the other.  If you see fighting you should probably seperate them.  Males can be very aggressive with other males but are not normally aggressive with females.

  3. Well, it is probably like a thing to see whos master, boss, ya know. There is something like it for chickens its called the pecking order. They peck each other on the back to show whos boss.  Or he could just be fighting for food. Either one is natural so you really don't have anything to worry about. But if you want to be safe, then seperate thier cages. Hope I helped!
