My library card was canceled,?

I lost my library card, and so someone wouldn't steal it and get all these fees on it, my dad cancelled it. Does it cost money to get a new library card? I didn't have any late fees or any thing.

  1. It usually doesn't cost anything. I've lost mine a couple of times and it has always been free to get a new one.

  2. Since you already lost one, ask the people at the Circulation Desk (where you check out) if they have a file where they can keep yours until you need it.  Even if you go to a different branch, they can look it up on the computer.  Everything seems to be automated in libraries nowadays.

  3. It depends on the library; just go and tell them that you lost your card, and would like another.  Even if it does cost money, it's not going to cost a ton.  My public library will give you a new card for less than a dollar if you lose yours.
