Question:

My lights come on and off for no reason?

I'am running lights with a 3000w inverter.when I run my pocket lights they turn off for about 2 seconds then back on for about 5 minits. that all stops if i run a light in anouther room at the same time but that kills my btterys faster.

Some additional details would help better answer this question.  If the lights are flouresent, your inverter may be running at less than 60hz, requiring the bulb to "re-fire."  Testing current draw during this time period would help figure this out.  This would be disproved if you were running direct draw lighting, such as incandescent or LED.

    The change with another light on may suggest that a particular range of your inverter's coils could be going bad.  If you tend to have the same lights on all the time, then the coils could become oxidized disproportionately.  This could also impact fluorescents.  Resistance testing of the coil could help resolve this.  This could also be confirmed by using a different inverter or using a smaller inverter to help change the load balance (and coils range) of your main inverter.  If the problem stops, it seems like a coil issue.
