My lip piercings, or being able to kiss my new boyfriend? Experienced answers, please

I've had my lip pierced for 4 weeks now- snakebites that are much more towards the center of my lip than the sides. I got it pierced with studs as the initial jewelry, and when I went back 2 weeks later to downsize, I asked for hoops instead. My lip swelled from the trauma of having the jewelry changed, and has stayed swollen since (this was two weeks ago.) I've been doing everything I'm supposed to, saline soaks, antibacterial non-alcoholic mouthwash, no hot foods, etc. I suck on ice chips sometimes and I also take motrin to help the swelling. It has gotten progressively worse since I started dating a guy I've liked for half a year now, since I like to kiss him. He is very understanding and even offered not to kiss very much until it's healed, but it's hard to restrain myself (he's very cute). My lip has swollen to the point where the hoops are cutting deep into the soft tissue on the back. The outside of the piercings under my lip look fine and don't hurt at all. I highly doubt the piercing is infected, because there is no discharge or redness. It's just swollen and sore. Is there anything else I can do to deal with the swelling? Will it get worse instead of getting better? I would change back to studs, but the backs will cut deeper into the gashes left by the hoops. =(

  1. Mine When Like That When I Fist Had Mine Done.It Stay For About A Month The Went And I Havent Had A Problem With It Since.

You Could Be Reacting To Metal Rings

Or You Could Have Inflamed It By Using All The Stuff On It.

I Would Leave It A Few Day Or Something Then Just Try Salt And Water

    Seemed To Work For Me

    Good Luck.

  2. There is defiantly something not right with you lip, if ice is not bringing the swelling dow.  I think you could be reacting to the metal of the hoops, and a trip to your GP sounds like a good idea.  Also you probably need to remove the hoops and not bother with studs either.  Just stay a nature intended.  I bet you look more attractive that way.

  3. I'm inclined to say that the rings are moving far too much to fully heal (your piercer really shouldn't have given you the option of rings for a good 2 months) so go back to your piercer, get then to change them back to studs of an appropriate length then go stick your tongue down that cute guys throat
