Question:

My lip ring placement? And size?

I got my lip pierced today.

One, I'm a little disappointed in the location. I wish it was up a little higher close to my lip. So for my first question, do you think it looks dumb too low? Honest opinions. I'm considering getting in repierced if people think it looks bad.

Two, they always seem to pierce it was a huge hoop or really long stud and I know that's because of swelling, but I just think it looks hideous. haha Is there a reason they pierce it was a bigger guage? I'm wanting to switch mine to a 16 guage once it's healed. I think it looks cuter smaller.

Opinions please!

  1. I think it looks really good!

I do agree with you, though, I think the smaller gauge will look better overall... but that's an easy switch once it's healed some.

  2. it looks fine it'll look better once its healed and you can put a stud in instead

  3. It is placed a little bit low but its nothing major and  my tattoo shop asks me what gauge i want they usually won't pierce something in a bigger gauge but if you are going from a 14 to a 16 it won't be any problem just when it's time to change it just get a 16 instead of a 14 no one will even notice

  4. nahh its perfect where it is. when you switch it out it will be cuter. plus if u get it closer to ur lip it mide kinda hide under ur lip if ur lip like goes down lol idk how to explain it.

  5. I actually like it. They shouldn't put a larger gauge than 16 in your lip if you're getting a standard piercing. If they pierced you with a bigger needle than 16 gauge, it was probably so that the ring would go through easier but if they also put a ring in that was bigger, then you didn't get the regular piercing size you got a bigger one.

The reason the ring is so big is like you said, so that when it swells up, it doesn't get trapped around the ring and irritate you badly.

The first day you are disappointed.. You are like "should of moved it up.." or " should of gotten the other side!" etc.. and you're going to keep looking at it and touching it etc.. Wanting to show it off XD But trust me. I was disappointed too. As time went on and it healed, I liked my lip rings more. Today I only have 1/3 but I still love my only one XD

  6. it looks fine dont worry. you should have gotten snakebites tho... lol well whatever you feel more comfortable with...

  7. The piercing is where it should be, I have snakebites, tongue ring, a surface piercing on my tummy, 4 in my right ear with one 14 gauge, 5 in my left ear with one 14 gauge, a 7x7 tattoo on my back and i've had my nose done, so I kinda know where it should be placed. The placement looks fine. If you don't like it though then take it out. You can get it a little closer to the middle of your lip but that kinda looks funny if you ever decide to get snakebites or spiders. I think the placement is fine though, i would leave it like it is. And the reason you have a 14 gauge instead of a 16 is because you didn't ask for a 16. Most facial piercings are done with 14 gauges, excluding the nose, unless you ask for another gauge. If you are going to down gauge wait until it heals or it will heal weird. But I think the placement and gauge looks fine. You have a wider mouth so i think the 14 gauge looks great. But it shouldn't matter what i think, if you don't like the placement, get it changed, if you don't like the 14 guage downgauge to a 16. Piercings should be about personal expression, not what everyone thinks looks better because trust me you'll probably have quite a few people looking at you funny just because you have a lip ring. Hope this helps !
