Hi yahoo! I have a 5 year old brother. I'm 13. My mom would love it if I could help him write his name over the summer to the point where I don't have to help. Is there a place online that i can type in his name and it will make dots or little lines to the point he can trace over them. We have a notebook called Manuscript Tablet and it says Recommended for preschool through 2nd grade. I'm tired of making little dots for him and he cant understand them! Please any little answer would be appreciated. Oh, I forgot to mention that his name is very long! It has 8 letters in it. I know once your my age your like its not long, please don't write that, I was talking about it being long to him. Thank you so very much for reading this!

  1. my son would not do the dots thing. he coloured them in...

but he writes his name well, and has done since he was 3.

print his name, in nice big letters.

point to each letter and tell him the name or sound of the letter.

show him how to make each letter.

teach him to spell his name verbally, saying each letter out loud.

then finally, he will be able to write all the letters in the right order

  2. my son is 5 and he cant write his name either im working with him as is his baby sitter, we bought him some books that have letters in it for him to trace and the whole dot thing i think it only works if the kid knows what all the letters look like! you should hold his hand and help him a couple times so he gets the feel for it then write his name and have him write below it

  3. Young lady there is a book your mom can get at the store, that is just for writing, it shows you how to make the letters, numbers, etc. it is in any book store, or might be able to it through a store that sells books for all ages, for school. It shows and demonstrates how to write the letters. It would make it interesting to him, and he could understand it,because it shows in the simpliest form.I hope this helps you.

  4. I wouldn't make the dots. They look weird.

He may understand that he has to trace, but he may get confused by the dots.

Just write his name and have him trace that.

Start off with having him write the first letter. Write it yourself over and over again and then leave space for him to write it.

Give him loads of encouragement even if the letter is barely recognizable. He will get it, but he needs to have practice.

Point out the letters when you see them out and about.
