My little brothers scared my guinea pig badly what do i do?

Question

when i first got my guinea pig she was very sweet and would let me hold her when ever i wanted to. she would come straight to my lap and just sit with me. once she met my two little brothers they where a little loud and jumpy and that scared her to the point where she barley moves from the corner of her cage. she comes out when no ones in my room but once someone walks in she runs to the other side of the cage. i just want to know how i can get her to trust me again and let me hold her and touch her like i used to. can you please help i just dont want her to always be scared.

This will take a lot of time and patience on your part. You need to be gentle & quiet whenever you're around her, and not make any sudden movements. When you hold her, stroke her gently and feed her a carrot from your hands. Guinea pigs are prey animals so they are always going to be fairly skiddish in their cages, that's quite normal.

Another thing that will really get her 'out of her shell', is to get her a cagemate. Check petfinder for rescues/shelters near you to find her a HEALTHY cagemate. If you don't mind mites, URIs, and lice you could go to a nasty pet store. You should keep the new guinea pig in a separate room for three weeks, but once they are introduced it really makes guinea pigs less nervous and not afraid to come up to greet you!

everytime you walk into your room, talk to her with a gentle/ soft voice so your guinea pig will get use to your voice. You can hand feed your guinea pig, this way she will get use to your scent. Be patient as this will take a while for your guinea pig to trust you again. Also try to keep your brothers away from her.

get some treats and just let her come to you,the best  thing to do is put a smaal towel around her tight(it calms them down)then just set her on your lap and pet her.sooner or later you wont have to do that anymore

i agree w/  whoever said u should get a cage mate and the one bout u giving her treats and she will eventually come to you. i did the treat 1 and he opened up, then after about two months i got him a friend. now he REALLY seems so much more happy! i did not know how much he was missing out until i got him a friend. u really dont know that they are sad, but he seems SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more playfull!

Awww. you have a guinea pig!! =) I used to have 2--Muffin and Flower. Ok so here's what you do: Everyday put your hand in the cage with a treat in your palm. After a week or two, when you give your guinea pig the treat pat her too. You should also take her out of her cage--not around your brothers. When you take her out, give her a treat too. This makes the guinea pig think that it is ok to be around you and you give her treats. Hope this info helps!!
