I'm gutted cos its an absolutely brilliant nursery! They've been absolutely brilliant with her and 'brought her out of herself'. Anyway is it normal to give the ladies a pressie when she leaves to show my appreciation?! What sort of thing should I give?

  1. A gift card for a dinner somewhere, or something like that would be good. a thank you note will make a huge impact. I run a daycare, and most people dont think about stuff like that. thank you for remembering those that work so hard for you and your family

  2. yes, a box of biscuits that they can share at coffee break would be much appreciated!

and instead of buying a card, get your child to make one - they are always treasured so much more.

I have always done this for every class my child has left - from playgroup, nursery all through school.

a little kindness goes a long way!

  3. Flowers, chocolates, pens, book tokens, mugs, photo frames, handmade gifts from the children.

  4. We all like wine at my nursery! But if you want to do something nice and not too expensive which will be appreciated by them, you could buy them something nice for the nursery, such as a big bright cushion, or something for the garden. The nicest thing I've ever been given was some lovely tea and coffee in a hamper to share betwen us! Biscuits usually go down well because they can be shared.

Also...tell everyone how good they are and keep in touch with them!! People think we forget and lose interest in the children we had in the past, but we don't!

  5. Why not give your little girl a present and stay home and raise her YOURSELF.  Eh? EH?

  6. Bake them cookies and things like that  buy them a small gift and a thank you card  goood luck

  7. That'd actually be really nice!  Don't give her something she can't use/don't want like a stuffed animal or mug.

Give her a picture in a nice frame of herself and your child or possibly a gift card to show your appreciation to a nice restaurant in town to show your appreciation throughout the years.  It doesn't have to be expensive, $10 and a nice note is great.

  8. Displaying your appreciation is the best gift you can give, some lovely ideas already given and the staff will be happy to recieve any gift, the more useful the better!! wine and chocolates always go down well in my nurseries!! Do not worry about STUPID comments on here, trolls should stay away from pre scholl!!!

  9. i know how you feel my daughter is going to reception in september but the nursery staff have helped her so much. im going to buy thank you teacher card and pressie, maybe chocs from clinton cards or p.o x

  10. oh absolutely -a gift basket of smellies or teacher things is always nice.

the best gift I ever received was from a little girl - her mom asked her all kinds of questions about me, she wrote down her answers and then had the child illustrate it - it won my heart!

  11. Yes , That is why they have teachers day and so forth

It is a way of saying Thank You

I would give a bookmark and some books or maybe a giftcard to a favorite stores

    A vase is nice too

  12. Yes definatly give the teachers and other workers a little something to remember you and her by.  One thing that I treasure more than anything is handmade cards by a child and a thank you note from the parent.  I teach nursury school and I keep every picture and every card in a box.  When I begin to feel stressed and wonder why I work for so little money I pull out htat box and then I remember.  I do it for the parent that has to leave the little angel somewhere while they are at work.  I do it for the little children who I will impact forever.  I do my job everyday to be a benifit to someone.  The cards are so special because its not often that a parent takes the time to say thanks for all you do.  If you would also like to get a gift send a gift card to somewhere like a resturant or a teachers store.  THis is so practicle.  I also have all kinds of teacher nicknacks that I write the name of the child who gave it to me and a small picture of the child so that I will always remember them.  Your childs teacher would never expect a gift but will be so excited and thankful if you send one on her last days.

  13. Flowers or a giftcard would be nice, nothing too expensive or too cheap.

  14. It is nice that you have so appreciated your little girls nursery.

Why not buy like an ornament with teacher on it.  Also make a special card with your daughters photo in it.

Hope she is happy at new school.

  15. It would be nice if your daughter made her something special from her,and you personally could say THANK YOU TO HER, good teachers now days don't get enough praise from the parents for their good works with their children;possibly you could turn her name in at your daughter's school for "The Teacher of the Year  Award., Or you could go get a plaque made up with her name on it, and the years she taught your daughter. Just a thought!
