I remember him always playing, running, and etc.. but now he is only sitting, sleeping, and acts like he doesn't care about anything. Do all fixed male cats act like this? Will he act so forever? Maybe he doesn't have hormones now?

  1. Most cats usually calm down a bit after surgery. It has been 3 days, he is probably still recovering. If he is really down and it persists beyond a week, you should contact the vet just to check in.

  2. I imagine, it has to do with the "fixing" he just had, after all, he is having a hard change...Wanna thing its all normal because im getting my cat back from the Vet today and i have o admit im pretty nervious... Good luck with your pretty kitten!

  3. yea it is absolutely normal. I had a cat that did the same think, some cats act like that ...all lazy and others just calm down a little bit.  He might even get fat after a while

  4. Not all react in that exact way but most cats calm down quite a bit after being fixed. he should liven up a little after he is all healed and out of pain but just let him heal his wounds before expecting him to play. If in a couple weeks he is still acting weird ask your vet but other then that, Good luck.

  5. no, they don't all act like that.  He could just not be feeling well from the surgery but most cats bounce back pretty quickly.  You may want to check with your vet to see if there is any cause for concern.  He'll probably be feeling better in the next few days.

  6. bear in mind the cat has been injected and put to sleep to have the operation,it probably that the injection has not  got out of his system yet,and also cats do sleep a average of 18 hrs a day..give him chance he will soon be back to his normal self and charging all over the place and jumping on you for a big fuss

  7. This is pretty normal. If you see no improvement in 3 days, take him back to the vet. They act like they dont care about anything and lay around a few days after surgery. Try not to bother him right now he just wants to be left alone. do encourage him to eat and drink by giving him canned food and providing him with fresh water. preferably a pet fountain. My cat Gizmo still plays. he is 3 yrs. old. He has calmed down a lot since his surgery, he no longer meows constantly or tear things up, or spray. but he still loves to play and has his hyper moments. Give your cat some time and he will bounce back, but his personality will change only a little bit. good luck! you made the right decision neutering your cat. There are too many ferral cats as a result of people not being responsible pet owners and not spaying or neutering.

  8. I would strongly recommend that you direct this question to the veterinarian that neutered him and ask if this is normal behavior post surgery.  Good Luck.
