My male hamster has swollen genitals....Why????

It is more then it is normally swollen and they look like they may hurt. I know it just a hamster but I have to feel bad for him. Please help if you can....Thanks

he needs a mate.  he is getting the human equivalent of blue balls

Hmmm thats interesting. Maybe he needs to "empty" them out so-to-speak. But call the vet, they are realy the only one who can help you.

It could be some sort of infection or it could be the heat.  My daughter's hamster's balls get swollen when it's an extremely hot day.  I don't know why, but if I put the air conditioner on as soon as he cools down it seems to be o.k.  If it doesn't seem to be any hotter than usual where he is, I'd call the vet.

Male hamsters descend their testicles when theyr comfortable around you, are you sure its not just this? if they look red, irritated, or abnormal in ANY way  a vet visit should be mad, just in case =]
