My maltese is due in 1 week.she has alot of milk already. Could pups be coming sooner than we think?

This is her first litter and she has alot of milk. could we be having pups sooner or is that normal in some moms?

  1. It's within normal, there's a wide variation on what individual moms do.  Small breeds sometimes deliver a bit early, especially if there's a large litter.  Average gestation is 61-63 days, but it could be as early as 58 and still be considered full term.

  3. Some female dogs will produce milk up to a week before the due time,though it could also be to do with that the pups might arrive in a few days or so time!! As it only a week,don't worry,pregnancys in dogs, lasts between 62-63 days but a few days either side is perfectly fine!

  4. It's possible the pups may come sooner and her body is responding by lactating now ... get her checked by the vet just to be sure .... better safe than sorry - for both her and her pups .....
