  1. The recruiter has a quota to fill. If you haven't taken the oath and decide to back out, tell him you were testing him to see if the Marines tell lies.

  2. yup if you already did your oath

  3. He is lying to you

  4. yes but that is only after you take the oath

  5. If you were sworn in, you will then be what they call AWOL.

  6. Only after you have taken the oath.

You can back out anytime, up until you raise your hand and take the Oath of Enlistment.  Recruiters will not tell you that for obvious reasons.

  7. If you are in the Delayed Entry Program(DEP) then you can back out at any time before you go to MEPS the second time and Sign your final contract, take your second Oath of Enlistment and Ship to bootcamp. You are not officially in the Marines  until you have done these things(usually at MEPS on the same day you leave).

All you need to do is write a letter to the Recruiting Commander stating that you wish to be released from DEP. There is nothing they can do about it. If they said you could go to jail then they aren't telling the truth.

They will be angry but there isn''t much they can do except hold up your release from Marine DEP and this only effects you if your trying to join a different branch.

  8. Did you enlist?? If so you must report for duty or go to jail, yes this is true.
