  1. How lucky are you? you will have a wonderful timer there, but its seriously freezing at the moment and windy.

See this link, its got all you need to know about Edeinburgh, plus secyions on restaurants, and shopping.

    Have fun!

  2. we recently had a marvelous meal in Shanghi Shanghi ( near Harvy Nics ) A full chinese buffet for 2 including drinks for less than £20. We got a coupon from a stand on Princes Street for a bogof. Then food was well worth full price.

  3. Try George street, there's Est Est Est, Bar 38, LaMond, Hard Rock and loads more. St James Centre is at the East End as is Princes Mall shopping centre, they have an eating place on the lower level. Have fun, but remember to wrap up, it's very cold and wet here, we also had snow last week!

  4. Yes of course there are, but first you will have to board the  train at Princes Street. Alight at Glasgow Queen Street and there you will find a plethora of restaurants and bars not to mention a veritable shopping extravaganza.

  5. There are two shopping centres in town which are both of Princes Street. Princes Street also has a great number of shops. There is also a bigger shopping centre at Ocean Terminal in Leith (but IMO Princes Street is better)

There are lots of good restaurants to eat at on a Saturday. Most of the nice sit-down ones are on George Street which is parallel to Princes Street and is where there are also lots of posher high street stores such as Karen Millen and Whistles. There is a great italian restaurant called CentroTre which is on George Street it has a great atmosphere and serves homemade pasta and desserts. There is also a Hard Rock Cafe and a Browns restaurant if you don't fancy Italian.

If you want to splash ou I would recommend Olorosso which is slightly more expensive (but does great bar meals which are reasonable) but has a great view over the rooftops of Edinburgh. The entrance is on Castle street which is off Princes street.

    Have fun

  6. Cambridge , for the best home made burgers in edinburgh. just off charlotte square on the street behind George street.  Bad *** or dirty ***** on rose street for bistro / pub grub.  The living room for posher pub grub.  Or if its a real special treat The witchery by the castle or rubarb at prestonfield.

St james centre or the waverly for shops but i just recommend walking up and down George street and princess street.

    enjoy!!!

  7. Henderson's.94 Hanover street..it is wonderfull.lots of food, not expensive and vegetarian  with huge variety.

the portrait gallery in George street was glorious last time i ate there but haven't been for a while

there is a big  shopping mall  just beyond Jenner's

  8. I lived in Edinburgh until recently. It's THE most fabulous place (apart from the weather). If you want a nice meal go to the Shore area near Ocean Terminal. The Malmaison, Skippers, Fishers, Martin Wishart and The Waterline are all there plus loads more. Have a look at The Malmaison website.

Ocean Terminal has loads of shops. Don't waste your money on taxis. The buses run all night and are cheap

Rose Street in the city has loads of bars

Have a wonderful time. It really is the best place to be.

  9. I would stick to Princess Street and George Street for shopping. A nice place to shop, eat and drink cocktails is Harvey Nicks just off Princess Street. enjoy but wrap up warm its baltic here.

  10. go down Rose street full of pubs selling great food .Edinburgh full of great shops plus shopping centre
