Question:

My mattresses are in storage and crawling with ants at the moment.

This is for both the mattress and box spring. Neither are inherently valuable, but I can't afford to replace them right now, and I can't abandon them to sleep on the floor until I get new, because I have a horrible back problem.

Is there a chance to remove all the ants in a manner that I can still use them in the future? I don't want to bring any with me to my new apartment, and I don't want to get bit to h**l trying to remove them, and I don't want to contaminate the mattresses with all kinds of bug spray.

What are my options? Sucking them up with a vacuum cleaner? Non toxic bug killer?

PS, In a sicko way, I wonder if they aren't doing me a favor nibbling at old dust mites and such...ants are pretty clean little animals.

  1. ants have habits that work to your advantage.

Firstly, they go home every night.  Secondly, they l**k their feet all the time.  Watch them and see how they are getting in and then go around the baseboards, etc with an odorless bug spray, Ortho and Bayer both make them, and then when they come in and go out, they will get the poison on their little footies and will soon l**k their little footies and get dead.

  2. use a vacum cleaner and use a bed bug spray that is safe to spray on ur matress hopefully that klls em.

  3. Yow, buy an air mattress for 20 bucks
