My 'maxtor' hard drive has

My 'maxtor' hard drive has been formatted to Mac OS extended- therefore it is not recognised by my other non-mac laptops and PCs. How can i format it so that i can transfer music and photos from macs to non- macs using this hard drive, and also back up files from both types of computer? Thanks.
