There is probably no longer an owner of that group to approve your membership.

locate another group- sounds like the owner is MIA. an owner or moderator needs to approve your membersip and if it's been that long, good sign they're not active

well it may not..it could mean that the owner is not longer around to approve you and they may not have a mod to help out on it and if they did..they may not have the control to approve you if the owner didn't give the mod that level..
