My memory card doesn't work?

So I have the Sony Cyber-shot camera, and my memory card for that is the SanDisk, 1 GB. Well, when I put the memory card into my computer [laptop]... nothing comes up. But on the other computer [regular] it works. It says something like "what would you like to do?" and i click the copy all pictures to folders or whatever. Well my question is why does it work on that computer, but it doesn't do anything on this computer? Is there a setting I need to change?

[Oh, by the way, I lost the cable that connects the camera and the computer so don't tell me to use that.]

THANKS! =D

  1. If you lost the cable, then buy a new one. I know you didn't want to hear that, but so what? It's common sense to me.

  2. HI there...  Something like this happened to my friend's laptop a couple of weeks ago.  He did all kinds of stuff and just could not figure out what was the problem.   Then he finally found out that he did not have Quick-Time... and installed it for free... and it works perfectly.   Perhaps it is something like that on your computer, too.  Hope so because then the solution is quite simple.  Thanks for reading.

  3. Hmm...

    Sounds Really Weird..

i've never heard of that happening before.. which kind of laptop do you have ? perhaps you should call them, and see if they have anything to say about it . That doesn't sound usual for an SD card, i can't imagine why that would happen, try searching the yahoo! answers database, and see if you see a link to your problem.

  4. Some internal card readers can't read bigger than a 512MB to 1 G card, get an external card reader, they read everything.
