My mice keep peeing in there wheel?

I just put an exercise wheel in their cage and they keep peeing in it when they run. Every morning i wake up it is sticky and murky and smells awful but they use it continuously. Any ideas why they do it and will they stop?

maybe you should kill your mice therefore they cant p**s in the wheel.

No, they wont stop. It's something that they all do, and you'll just have to take the wheel out and clean it whenever it gets gross. You could increase the amount of time in between cleanings by putting more than one wheel in there.

When you clean it, use something made for pet urine. A cleaner with enzymes for breaking down the urine will help keep it from smelling.

You should put a potty room in there with kitty litter and hope that your mousey pees more in there and less in the wheel.

Most hamsters would use the potty room to pee (but poo elsewhere), I hope it's the same with mice.  It just makes things a lot easier.

Rodents can't control there bladders at all so if they happen to be on the wheel and they have to go then they will. Maybe get a wire wheel instead so it can go through the cracks.
