My mickey mouse platy is pregnant.?

the guy at the store i go to told me she is pregnant . so i need help if this is good or not for her to give birth in. also please tell me some extra stuff

Some live plants are better for fish as this aerates the water. She should be ok just make sure that she has plenty of food as shes eating for about 2-10 bellies.

As long as she isn't spikey like a pine cone and her eyes poping out of her head as that is dropsy which will kill her.

When she stays near the waters surface that is when she is ready to give birth.

Well to start with if you want to keep the fry from being eaten you better get a 1 gallon tank also when feeding the babies what ever you feed the mother put it in a plastic sandwhich bag and finely grind it in to powder(right now I'm grinding up food because my babies ran out) and in the babies tank try not to put a filter or they could get sucked up

When my livebearer fish (platys, swordtails, mollies, guppies, etc.) are due to have their fry, I put them in a breeding net with small plastic plants for the fry to hide in. I keep the breeding net in the same tank as the other fish so the female does not get stressed out from a water change or big move. Usually after the female feels safe she will begin to have her fry. Make sure to get the female out when she is finished having her fry or she will eat them. The beat thing is to leave her alone and she will have the fry when she is ready.

That is fine but you may want a backup tank to put the mother in because she will eat them. Also, I recommend putting a small piece of pantyhose around the filter intake so the babies don't get sucked up. I get a ped that woman use at the shoe store to try on shoes and just rap it around the intake with a rubberband. If she has a lot of babies you may want to get a larger tank to raise the babies in, but you have a few weeks before that is needed. Good luck!
