My mind wanders when I'm at piano lessons. I mean, I love piano and all and it's so much fun to play, but since I practice and know the song, my fingers remember and my mind wanders to the day before or something my friend said.... you know? Sometimes, I remember funny things my brother did or some hilarious thing on TV and I smile and my teacher looks at me funny, or I even burst out laughing! I feel kind of embarrassed... Its only in piano lessons! Help!

  1. Your probably bored but you dont know it..

    Ok let me give you an example of sumthin similar that happened to me (I know its completely off topic but it falls in tha same category);

    I was with a girl I THOUGHT I loved for 4mnths & we were both virgins at tha time. We finally decided to have s3x...Next day I did not care for her at all. I was so confused so I asked my dad...He said because I knew it was gonna hapen sooner or later so my mind made me think I loved her when I was actually waiting for it to happen without realizing it.

    And yes I really did love her but of course she didnt believe me and she had everyone thinking I was a player..Not true at tha time by tha way!

  2. If this happens in other cases then you might have ADD/ADHD... i don't think you do.

    Just try to stay focused. Ask your teacher if there is something more you can do with the lessons.

  3. Your mind is actually an extremely powerful thing. The reason why your mind wanders when you do piano lessons is because:

    1) The piano lessons require your brain to stay awake

    2) The lessons do not use all of your brain's thinking power.

    Whenever you try to do an activity that requires you to stay alert but doesn't use all your thinking power then your brain will naturally start to drift. Unlike when watching TV or laying around your brain is able to start calming down. Hence why watching TV is usually more relaxing.

    Its really hard to concentrate, everyone has these problems from time to time. The only way I can keep focused is to just, well do it. There is usually no easy way around it. Like I should be studying for this exam I have in 3 hours but I can't stop thinking about stupid stuff. So I get on here and answer a few questions to clam my mind down then go back to studying.
