Six months ago my minor child got into a car accident with his father and my son sustained a bruised contusion to his chest and neck pains due to "whiplash", he was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, went to the doctor's for his injuries and did not attend school and football practice due to this accident. The insurance company that is representing the other vehicle wants to settle for $1500.00 for my son only. Is this reasonable or should i consult with my lawyer? What is a reasonable amont for my child's accident? I am not trying to be greedy, but $1500.00..that don't sound right? Help me out!

  1. Attorney time! What if there are long term issues from this?

  2. The only fair settlement offer is that which is actually commensurate with the damages received.

If there are no permanent injuries and all medical bills have been paid then you have received a fair offer already

Everybody knows there is no such thing as Whiplash. I guess you can go to a chyroshyster and see what he says.

You'll have to find an ambulance chaser to go after that.

All medical bills and expenses were paid, and he only received a sprained neck and minor contusion, meaning basically medical terminology for a bruise.

Surely your son has received a sprain or a contusion on the football field. If so did the school pay his doctor bills and offer you 1500 dollars.

What exactly do you think is unfair? none of the injuries are permanent and they do not require ongoing care. You have a healthy son and have been fully compensated for your damages and then a little extra, the 1500 for your time. Of course if your not being greedy.

IIt sounds fair to me unless you are looking for a reward or profit from your childs very minor injury.

  3. I would contact an attorney... I think u can squeeze more money outta the insurance company.

  4. Bodily Injury adjuster answering.

A lawyer will take a thrid of your settlement. So make that your last choice.  Never take the first offer.  Adjusters alway negotiate within a range, maybe between 1500-4500.  Now if your son did not seek any additional treatment besides the er visit, has no permant scarring, and the 1500 is on top of you paid medical bills, you can probably get a little more, but not much.
