My modem is fine, however i cant seem to find why sometimes my pc cannot connect to the internet?

i clear the cache, and history so that is not the problem. Occasionally, it says "connecting" on the bottom left instead of the usual "waiting"...i have to wait a while. Sometimes i have to close the browser and start again..i dont know what is goin..does anyone encounter this problem?

If you pull your IP address directly from your ISP, it can sometimes be a network related issue.  To find this out, go to Start > Run > type CMD > type IPCONFIG

If your IP address is 192.168.X.X, you are getting an IP from your router.  However, if your plugged directly into the modem, you will have some other number.

If its an ISP issue, work with the ISP.  They might be just having a temporary outage.  

If its 192.168.X.X, the trouble lies between you and your router.

Are you using wireless?  If your wireless 802.11 signal is being interferred with (cordless phone, TV, microwave, fridge, vacuum) your signal could get dropped long enough for it to lose synch with eachother.  You should test to see if you have the same problem if your wired in.

Besides that I do have this problem as well in my case I have verizon DSL and they told me that I had to upgrade the modems software when I have lost of connection. Like slow preforming videos disconnection of web pages for no reason. That sort of stuff so I do that every time I have a problem and it works. I don't know what service you use but in case you can download it here

also try to write your  modem address on the browser if it ask for a password it should be User 'admin' and Password 'password' try also to change that if you do because you could get hacked
