Question:

My mom's idea of a diet is barely eating..... please help?

I am 13, and classified as obese.(5'4" 184pounds) My mom wants me to lose weight. so this is what I eat everyday

Breakfast- Half a piece of toast

Lunch- 1/4 of a sandwhich that had one slice of turker, and one piece of lettuce, inside. along with, 2 crackers, and no drink.

Dinner- If it is chicken nuggets, i get two. If it's something else, such as spaghetti, I dont get any. if it is hotdogs, I get half of a hot dog. If its something else, i get a very small portion, or no food at all.

In a day, She doesnt let me drink more than two bottles of water, and thats it.

What should I do?

  1. Your mom is going to kill you if she keeps this up. Tell her to look up some actual diet stuff, call a doctor or a nutritionist. It's common sense to eat three full meals a day limit your calories to 900 a day, and work out 30 minutes a day with cardio excersises. Drink a ton of water, and just make sure your eating saturated and transfat free foods and you'll lose weight faster. With the way your mom is limiting your food you are definitely going to gain weight because your body has to make up for what your not eating and you'll bloat. If she doesn't listen to you, I'd tell someone because that's just ridiculous, your mom should know that's so unhealthy

    but in your mom's case she is going in to a mode with her body that keeps the fat her body won't let it go

    so her body keeps the fat as well as breaking down muscle i have noticed eating more than exersising benefits you a lot

    eat a moderate meal not mcdonalds for every meal but

    500-700 calories- by 12:00

    and by dinner

    500-700 calories

    but if she wants you to  lose weight just burn more calories than you take in.

    join a basketball,volleyball,softball,tennis,go... team

    you'll definately lose weight i have been playing football since i was 8 and i gained 10 pounds in the last 5 weeks just fom losing fat and lifting weights.

    not bad huh?

    But if you want to outsmart your mom, every day tell her that you were so hungry at school that you ran to the vending machine and ate a big disgusting chocolate bar.

  5. you can drink as much water as you want - it has 0 calories, and will not make you gain weight. at all. it's actually dangerous to drink too little.

    i'd say that diet would be fine, if you add a bit more fruit or vegetables to it. they contain essential vitamins that are needed to maintain a healthy body, and will not make you gain weight. you can have as much fruit or veg as you want.

    other than that, you should ask a nutritionist to see if that balance of protein/carbohydrates/fats is okay for you. you are 13 and need a good diet. for example, your diet right now contains no calcium, which is essential for growing healthy bones.

    your mum is still allowing you to eat unhealthy food but only tiny amounts... sooo bad!!!

    you should be eating plenty of fruit and veggies!!... LOTS of water!!

    eat small and often.. tell your mum to go with you to the gp, if you are classified as obese then your doctor will refer you to a dietitian.. don't let your mum do this anymore, you will end up ill... chance are if you try speak to your mum she wont listen and will probs think you are just after more food but she will listen to a professional!!...


  7. she obviously wants you to loose weight! but thats not healthy. try eating 3 healthy meals a day and drink at least 6 glasses of water [it will fill u up] and excercise. and eat some fruits and veggies for snacks.

  8. she needs help...u should be eating at least 1200 calories to lose weight safely.. ur barely eating, u can call child protective service on her..I understand her concern, but their are better ways in helping u lose weight making u starve

  9. Go straight to your guidence councelor.Your MOM needs help.And there are plenty of good Docs that put you on a HEALTHY weight loss program.your way to young and doing some major developing in and out to be eating so little.Your pedatrician can help you,This diet

  10. Tell someone right away. you should be eating at LEASTTTTT 1500 calories a day. when your at about 150 you should start eating 1200. and even that is really low. You need to take matters into your own hands. Start going out for lunch. Tell a friend, or a friends parent. If they cant help change your moms mind, then maybe they can feed you.

    But, if you want to lose the weight that's not to far off the mark for how much to eat.  Maybe a little more but not much.  But you should drink all the water you can. It helps slow your metabolism, helps fill you up, and helps flush all the c**p out of your body that you put in there to make yourself so heavy.

    Exercise is also a must. 30 mins 3 or 4 times a week..

    I know (from personal experience) that trimming up and getting yourself looking and feeling good is the greatest thing you will ever do for yourself. Also the hardest..    

    I was fat for the first 26 years of my life and still fight my weight every day...  5'9.......... and 253 at my best!!!  5'9.........210 now and work hard to keep it every day..

  12. your mom is starving you that is not the way to diet ask your doctor or to a nutritionist. get help from someone else close to you. talk to your mom and tell her that is not the way to diet

  13. I'll tell you the consequences of lack of enough food.  If you want, you can show this to your mom, otherwise you can simply explain it to her.  

    What happens when one starves themselves, or goes to an extreme deficit of calories, meaning, under 1,200 calories, your body goes into what is called a starvation mode. It is a natural technique to adapt to the environment because your body thinks that there is no food around you.

    As a result, your body slows down its metabolism to preserve fat storages to keep you alive.  Starving oneself leads to muscle-loss mainly, not fat loss, which is a common misconception.

    If you go back to eating normally, your metabolism will still be very slowed down, which will result in rapid weight-gain.  If you do not go back to normal-eating you will suffer major health consequences due to lack of nutrients to sustain the body.

    Your mother has to give you healthy foods, and less, but not such a huge deficit of calories.  Also, I don't understand why chicken nuggets and hot dogs are even part of your meals if you are trying to lose weight.  

    That's no good of a plan, you need less food than you would usually consume (not the small amount your mom is giving you, I mean, as compared to when you were eating before), but healthy foods.  Your foods should be low-calorie, and avoid processed foods and fast food.  You can tell how processed a food is by looking at the length of the ingredients on the food.  More ingredients means more chemicals were added to the food.  A whole food has only one ingredient: itself.

    You should have a balanced diet, with sufficient healthy fats (avocados, fish), sufficient protein (eggs, lean meat, seafood), and sufficient complex, low GI carbohydrates (whole wheat bread, brown rice, sweet potatoes).

    Also, why would your mom limit your water intake?  Water has 0 calories, and it keeps you hydrated.  You need it for all bodily functions and it speeds up your metabolism as well.  Please tell all of this to your mom.  You're going to have to get help from someone if your mom still refuses to listen.

    i'm that hight, and weighed 170 when i was 16, i tried eating that little to loose weight, since im a tool... and frankly it wont work. your body will hold onto the fat since it thinks its starving, then you will loose any moucel you might have. then perhaps fat, but still.

    your mom = TOOL

    eating balanced meals is key, no mater how little i eat, or well i eat, i dont loose weight unless i have a healthy breakfast (and that is not half a peice of toast)
