My mom always does this..?

After my mom leaves for work, she calls me an hour later and asks if I've done my chores yet. EVERY DAY. I don't know why.. because I'm not argumentative or anything? Whenever she gets home, she constantly hovers over me and asks me if I did everything. Then threatens to take my phone away if I didn't do them.. every day when she comes home! I tell her all the time that I do everything. Then she says, "You better have! your phone and computer is mine if they aren't done! You hear?!" It's like.. CONSTANTLY..! Why..?!

  1. My mom does the same thing.  I tell her I'm not five anymore.  maybe you should ask her about it.  I think it's more a control issue than anything else.  Honestly... some mother's can't just let you do things by yourself YOUR way. My mom took away my computer until I had scrubbed the kitchen floor exactly the way she wanted it (may I also add in that, due to  severe back, shoulder, and knee injuries i sustained earlier that month, I wasn't exactly up to it...you can understand why).  I think I scrubbed that floor about every other day, or even every day, for a month, for at least four hours each time before I got computer, phone, friend, and other priveleges back. I think it's more a control issue than anything else.  She may also be trying to help you, but honestly, I don't think she's being very fair!   She may also just be bipolar or have mild OCD.  I think that's whats up: OCD.  Maybe you could suggest to call her and talk to her while you do them too, and narrate exactly what you are doing. (being sarcastic here).  Good luck!  I hope your mom grows out of that phase.  i know how annoying it can be.  you could also say.  I did EVERYTHING!!!! and emphasize everything.

  2. shes dumb.

    kill herrrrr.jk jk :]

  3. Hmmm, this is hard...SHE'S YOUR MOM!

  4. Doesn't know a proper way to get you to do them and probably doesn't know a proper punishment if you refuse to do them.

  5. Just do something bad to show here that she is taking you for granted

  6. Well, the easy way to solve it, is to tlk to her, I guess? I know, ti sounds really cheesy, and stuff... but if you let her know she's being crazy, maybe she wont act as crazy. she might just want to make sure you get tha stuff done. Trust me, Mom's are just worried ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME. I don't think anyone knows why.

  7. She just wants you to be a responsible person! Mom Mom was like that too! GL!

  8. On the surface she sounds unfair and overbearing in her approach.

Are you sure that you haven't missed doing your chores ever, at all?

Continually missing pieces of chores or whole jobs will generate lack of trust.

    You could try this:

Mum, every day I do my chores and every day you ask me.  I could make a list and tick off everything that I have done and you wouldn't have to keep asking me.  Because you ask me all the time, I feel you don't trust me and I get really stressed.  After four days of doing everything that I am supposed to do and checking it off the list, I would like you then not to ask me about the chores at all.  I want to act grown up but you are not really letting me.  I need you to start showing that you trust me or I feel really bad because you always threaten me.

  9. She's bipolar, on her period, or just a *****.

  10. I think she wants to teach you responsibility, but at the same time you should talk to her. Especially if you have proven to her you are capable to accomplish your duties without being micro managed. So ask her for some slack, make a deal for instance, She sould give you a chance and, I feel if you approach in a tactful manner she will be more open to the ideal. The biggest thing is letting you know how you feel in a way that she wont think your overreacting, or just acting like a kid.

  11. Well...Only thing I can figure out is she wants to make sure you're responsible for doing your chores. But I agree, she's a little over dramatic about it.  Just ignore her...and do your work and you want have to worry about her taking your things. Although she would get on my nerves!!!!!
