My mom and I are thinking about moving?

This is totally not set in stone. We were just thinking about it today as a possibility. I'm going into my last year of high school in a town I do not like. We both want a fresh start. Where would be a good place for us to think of moving to? Of course, this is after I graduate.

I like:

England (preferred place by us both since we speak English)

Norway

I've thought about France, but not all too sure on it

Rainy weather (just not sunny all the time)

Cooler temperatures (preferably 30 F - 75 F)

Access to university/jobs

My mom likes:

Spain

Italy

Greece

Mediterranean

Warmer temperatures (70 F- 85/90 F)

Sunny days

Access to jobs (she works in a clinic)

Somewhat cheap place to live (in a good neighborhood, no where unsafe)

Another thing is that we have a dog, who I can't live without. Where's a good place to live that's between my mom's ideas and mine, somewhat cheap place to live, and can accommodate a 78 lbs. dog? One more thing, sorry. Does anyone know how long my dog would have to be in quarantine and if I'd be able to visit him everyday?

  1. Have a look at Stuttgart, Germany.  There are good universities here and the weather is quite good. It's close enough to other countries (Austria, Switzerland, France) that you can go sightseeing for a weekend.

Your dog would not need to go into quarantine - he just needs all his shots.

  2. England would be a good choice, but not London. London is way too expensive and the only cheap places there are rough areas. Nearly all americans that come here love it so you probally would too. Some where in the north (Liverpool, Manchester, Durham) would be nice, really really cheap up there and most of the nieghbourhoods are safe. There's some famous University's for you to go to up there too. There would be more than enough job choices for your mum, but the weather is pretty c**p lol but hey thats what holidays are for ;)

  3. i'd have to say england, but then i am biased. the north is cheaper then the south, but the south is nicer. if you live essex/kent/herts sort of way there's a lot of scope for travel. where i live in basildon, essex, you can get to calais (northern france) in about 3 hours. then you can travel pretty easily into belgium, and so on. the southern coast is also warmer than the north, but again, still pretty rubbish weather over all, we don'y do farenheit temps over here, or lbs, so i can't give you an estimate for temp, but in summer we average about 25-30 oC, and in winter, 5-10 oC.  you have to look for nice areas (lean towards kent, the garden of england) and you can look in advance for jobs, just search uk job agencies, like job centre plus, or monster.co.uk. i also think there are more universitys in the south, but i don't know (oxbridge are in the south, and uni of essex is good)

as to the quarantine thing, i don'tknow, i think it's six weeks, but i have also heard that as long as it's chipped (or electronically tagged, whatever you want to call it), has a definite clean bill of health, and has a passport it can come straight over. i think. don't take my word for it.

  4. You should really think about Malta, in the Mediterranean!
