  1. 9 digit numbers are service number usually on the backbone of a telephone\cellular company.

    They are untraceable and your phone company will have no record of the call ever taking place.

    Its scary, but true.

    I have a sim card that allows me to do this.

    Its free, but it can only make outgoing calls...

  4. 9 digits is not correct for the US.  It's either 7 or 10.

    However, the way you're discovering this is likely the issue.  Caller ID is not terribly accurate.  What you are seeing can be caused by any number of flaws in the system or even something intentional (it's possible to "fake" a caller ID).  International calls can throw things off.

    Don't trust the caller ID.
