My mom angrily agreed to my having a bra! Heeelllppp!!!?

Yesterday, I took all your advice and tried to talk calmly and rationally about my needing a bra. But she still thinks that the only reason I want one is because everyone else has one. I tried camisoles, but the built in bra isn't thick enough to hide my nipples whenever I wear form fitting shirts. It's not like I want a bra. I'd actually think they're annoying. I just need one so that I don't end up embarrassing myself.

Now my mom is angry and now I don't know whether to go buy a bra, or find better camisoles or...or...

SOB! :(

  1. sorry about your mom , she doesnt undertand , just go with a friend or ask your grandma, aunt older sister or frinds to go with you to a store and go buy some darn bras, nobody wants to see nipples, its gross

    help me please! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  2. if your mom is going to act like a child about you getting a bra, she's the one who needs help, not you.  find a friend and go to the mall and get you a bra!  14!  i didn't see the original post, and i know i'm pretty large busted, but by 14 i was in a 36C...there was no way i could get away with not wearing  a bra.  most kids get them by the time they're 10 now.  i have some students who are 8 that need them, simply because i'm tired of looking at their nipples poking out at me.  your mom has issues of her own that she obviously needs to deal with...and i don't think they really have anything to do with you getting a bra.  but you need a bra.  go get one.  seriously.  stop reading, and get a bra!

  3. How old are you? If you're 12 or older, you probably should be wearing a bra. Ask your mom how old she was when she got her first one. If she was younger than you, ask her why she got one. If she was older than you, explain to her that you don't need a bra with any padding (because you don't). Just try a training bra. And make sure you're happy and not all moody when you explain this to her.

I got my first bra when I was 12, and it took my mom a while to get used to it. Understand that you're mom just wants you to stay her baby your whole life, and tell her you aren't trying to grow up too fast. You just feel uncomfortable sometimes :]

  4. Buy several bras.

Holding down embarrasment at your age is important.

    I wish you well.

  5. well, talk to her she should understand and if she agreed then there you go

  6. ok hunny,

well i had your same problem

its that you dont have the chest to fill a bra yet, but you want one to hide watcha got rite?

it depends how old you are..

but when your shopping with your friends just go out and buy one.

it is your choice, you can wear a stinkin bra if you want to. your a young lady and its your decisision not your moms.

when i wanted my bra i told my mom striaght up at the store and i picked a few out i wanted and put them in the cart :]

    be brave kiddo,

you'll get where you wanna get to.

    good luck.

  7. This is stupid, just buy a d**n bra.

  8. Buy one anyways. If you're not sure about it, go to a bra store & ask them to take your measurement. You do NOT want saggy b***s. Prevention is cheaper than cure. &Your mom's not you, it was waaay different back then than it is now.

  9. Well what are you going to do about it?  You are fourteen years old and your parent still has control over you so you have to respect that parental guidance and listen to it.  Look for better built ins because it would be so horrible to go against your mother's beliefs and buy one behind her back.  maybe something cottony to make sure they don't irritate you and are thick.  K?

  10. you're 14 and you don't have a bra? how do you change in the locker room? i got a bra when i was in 5th grade! go and buy a bra from kohls or something because yes you do need one!

    answer mine please: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  11. Sounds like your Mom is having issues with you growing up. If your chest isn't big at all, you could always try putting band-aids over your nipples to hid them when it gets cold.

  12. Sorry, but that just stinks. I wouldnt want my 14 year olds nipples popping out. She's been wearing a bra since theyve starting popping. Maybe your mom has issues with your growing up but it sounds like shes got to do just that and get over it.

  13. Why the h**l are guys answering? lol

  14. did you tell your mom that? no offense, but your mom is wack! my mom was begging ME to go bra shopping with her when i first started to develope. angry for wanting a bra? its not your fault that youre developing! and its not like youre going to get a push up bra! and you know....you dont NEED your mom to go with you, maybe you could just go with a friend? its not that complicated to find the right bra, people working in that section of the store will help you. and just volunteer to do the wash every now and then to wash them so she wont know.

  15. Ask her if she really wants you advertising your goods! For crying out loud mom.what is your problem?! Listen sweety, go to a thrift store and find one...they are cheap and she wont need to fuss over $ (if that is her point). She has to let you grow up sometime! My oldest boy is 14 now and passed me in height. I marvel at his handsome face and enjoy every stage he's in. I hope you work this out.

  16. FOURTEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... you NEED A BRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. yea your 14 you need one because you "Do" lol not because you want one i started wearing a training bra when i was in the 2nd grade so id get used to it lol and my mom was the one who said it be a good idea, but hey she agreed so don't worry if shes a little angry she'll get over it ♥♥♥

and yea its a little embarrassing haveing your nips say hello to everyone...thats happened to me before when i was wearing a bathing suit with no little padding =( ....maybe she just dosnt want you to grow up?

  18. Tell your mom that the way she is handling this is probably causing you psychological damage, and if she would stop acting like a crazy person, and start acting like a mother, you'd really appreciate it.

  19. at fourteen u definitely need a bra!

    parents just never understand anything

  20. Well, how old r u..??

  21. there comes a time in a females life where they have to rebel against their mothers!!! this is one of the times, because it will serve a greater good. you're a teenager now, don't embarrass yourself and give people a reason to remember you as "that girl". good luck.

  22. just get one i got my first when i was 9 years old

  23. did you tell her how youd be embarrassed? im sure she wouldnt want her own child to get embarrassed in front of everyone at school :(

maybe tell her in a soft jokingly way 'what if i go to school and everyone can see my nipples?!' or use a different word for that if you want ..

or say 'i cant even where form fitting shirts because itll just show my _ :('

  24. aw well thats annoying :( im sorry..

i think a mom should always be prepared for her daughter to ask that.

and i think if you have nipples showing through shirts, then..why not??

if you told her that, and that its not just because the other girls have one..idk.

but you said she agreed..so id say go with her to get a bra.

and if she still doenst want to get you one..then jeeez she needs to lighten up :P

  25. If you are just worried about your nipples showing then there are other ways to cover them up aside from buying a bra...because if your bra isn't padded then your nipples are going to show anyway. To cover your nipples you can buy little petals that are specifically made to stop them from coming through your clothes. They are in the bra section at most major department stores...just ask a representative for the nipple covers. Also if you wanted to fix the problem right now...a lot of my friends just use tape...trust me it doesn't hurt when you are pulling it off and its a simple fix to a potentially embarrassing problem. GOOD LUCK!!

  26. You can buy bras yourself without your parents knowing.

You can also get specially measured so you are wearing the correct size bra and not damaging your back, shoulders or b*****s.

(Most shops offer measuring facilities, Marks + Spencers, Debenhams...)

  27. I know how you feel i have been wearing these pathetic little training bras since i was 12 and i finally got some good supporting bras a few weeks ago and i'm 15 but my b***s are really tiny i wear a 34A :( anyways your mom sounds crazy is your mom fat maybe she is jealous that your skinny and she sounds mean and crazy you have no reason to be embarrassed because your skinny i'm the skinniest person in my family and i have been since i was born my mom dad and sister are obese and they don't care i care. So just bye yourself a bra and don't listen to your moms crazy mouth. Good luck!

  28. Sounds like Mom had a bad day. Sorry

  29. if all you need a bra for is to cover nipples up, well just put band aids over them. believe me you will be wearing those things for the rest of your life so don't rush it

  30. poor girl parents don't understand when kids are this age it's already tough. If you have too yes baby go buy a bra,I wish I could help you through this, but the answer is yes go get a bra.Take care and good luck.

  31. Well in the end you can never win. (Trust me, my parents are even more stubborn.)  But I don't think you should go and buy one.  They'll need to be washed and then your mom will find out.  Unless you do your own laundry then you should find better camisoles.  If you do wash your own laundry then all you have to do is make sure she doesn't find out.  But if she does find out, she'll just get really angry.  The worst thing that happens is she'll yell at you, ground you, throw them away and you end up spending money for nothing.  So I think you should buy them.
