The reason is she has two male she needs to keep away from her. So they don't get her on her first go around.

  1. On average a female spends 7 days in proestrus coming in to heat.  At this time she will not allow the male to mate, but she will show swelling and will urine mark a lot more than usual. Her discharge will be reddish in color.

For 5-7 days she will be in standing heat - she will solicit and flirt with males and allow them to breed.   Her discharge has now changed to more of a straw color.

For about 7 days she is going out of heat.  If she is not bred, she goes into a period of reproductive rest that lasts several months until she comes in again.  For most this period of time is approx 6 months.  For some it is as short as 4 months.  If she is bred, she will start showing subtle signs of pregnancy.

So keep her away from males for at least 21 days from the time you notice them showing interest and/or see swelling of her v***a or an increase in marking behavior.

  2. she will be in heat for about 3 weeks..  dogs should be separated for at least 4 weeks tho to be safe.

  3. She'll be in heat until she spays her.

  4. a good 3 weeks

  5. For about 21 days. Please go get your dog spayed!

  6. If your mother doesn't know the answer to this then she really needs to do a lot of research before just putting two dogs together.

Pugs often have problems delivering and a c-section can cost well over $700

A dog no matter the breed the heat cycle last a total of 21 days.
