Before you list the "Show her this" I would like to state this:

She stated "If the devil existed, he would've created video games" "All video game companies are evil." "High-School shooting are more rampant because of video games" "*at violent movie trailer on tv*: THAT LOOKS LIKE A VIDEO GAME!" "If you ever get a video game or console for your birthday, we'll say thank you and give it back to that family, if they won't accept it we'll sell it to someone who needs it more than us." "It doesn't matter, even if there's mario now video games are all about shooting. That blood is evil"

Hmm, solution?

  1. I'd suggest that you talk to her about the Nintendo Wii, and tell her that there simply are NOT any violent or gory games made for it (it's true, Nintendo doesn't market games with higher than a T - roughly equivalent to PG-13 - rating in an effort to be family-friendly. Try taking her into a store, or have a friend bring their console over, and start playing Wii Sports to show her video games aren't all about shooting. Ask her about games like DDR or Wii fit, that help you get into shape, or Guitar Hero or Rock Band (which clearly does not, and can not, involve shooting in any form). Explain the video game ratings system to her, and ask her if it's OK to get a console if you agree to only get games that are at or below the rating she thinks is OK.

If worse comes to worse, just wait until you're legally an adult, and buy your own console. If she says anything, or tries to take it away, tell her that you bought that console with your own money, and since you're an adult it's your property and she's legally not allowed to do anything to it. Or, move out and get as many consoles and stuff as you'd like.

  2. How old are you? If you're 17 or older I would go buy one yourself, sneak it into the house and play it when she's not around. Or keep it at a friends house and go over there and play them. I know this may sound bad, but if you get one and she takes it from you and does anything with it you can actually call the police and report it as a theft.

My mom used to be the same way when I was a kid. Her and I worked out an agreement. I could play any of the games that I wanted to no matter how violent as long as she didn't see me playing them or hear them while she was in the house. It was the same way with the movies I watched and the music I listened to. Maybe you could do the same with her. If not, buy one, hide it and play it when she's not home.

  3. huh...my parents are kinda cool xD  ...

not all video games are violent either

  4. Ok, this will take a few months...

Start looking at her funny and telling her she looks like she's put on a few pounds...

Every two weeks, swop all her undies for a size smaller so she thinks she's getting fat...

then, leave pamphlets around the house showcasing the new Nintendo Wii... point out how one of your friends got it, and their hippo of a mother lost 100 pounds just doing yoga instead of sitting on the couch eating chips and watching soapies...

keep saying how you can use it to exercise any time of the day, rain or shine, cold or hot, in the comfort of your own home....

    Maybe she'll get you one!

Sorry dude, I don't know what you can do aside from pulling articles showing that video games actually have no effect on violence amongst teens, except where there is some sort of predisposition to psychosis from the getgo...and if there were no videogames, they could have blamed it on a TV programme, and if there were no TV's, they would have blamed it on a book they read, and if fiction was not invented, they would have blamed it on the bible...Crazy people get their inspiration from EVERYWHERE!

The Nintendo Wii would probably be your best bet...they don't have too many violent games, and the idea is REALLY easy so she really could play and may even learn to love it! (plus it's a really group oriented thing to do, other consoles don't really get everyone having fun - so it's fun for having mates around)

  5. i know exactaly how you feel

  6. That sucks dude. Tell her if thats devil propaganda why didn't god stop it.

  7. Uhh,If you got such a bad craving for video games how about you steer clear of the grand Theft Auto and maybe play some half normal non-abusive ones. Like Guitar hero,DDR (Dance dance revolution),And other ones where you just have a mission thing and have to go around and find things .. get my drift? Obviously you're Mother is strong willed and won't let you play video games, but I think shes just talking about the violent ones. Make a proposal to her that if she buys you can x-box you promise you will only play Family rated games. And if you really must .. if you have the money go behind her back and buy you're own GTA and play it when shes not home, then hide it.
