  1. If you were born in this country, you are

  2. Its depends on whether or not you are classed as a dual citizen.

Do some research on dual citizenship.

  3. the fact that your mother is British, does not make you a British citizen automatically,

    it depends on where you were born? if you country of birth allows dual citizenship;

if your country does allow it? you may be able to be awarded UK citizenship, read carefully :

    Children of British born Mothers

Were you born between 7th February 1961 and 1st January 1983, and was your mother British at the time of your birth?

If the answer to both the above questions is yes, then you may be entitled to register as a British citizen under the amendment to the British Nationality Act 1981, which came into force on 30th April 2003.

For information about the new Citizenship Ceremony, please refer to the note you will find elsewhere on this site.

The basis of the application depends on the manner in which your mother acquired her British nationality, as not all British mothers are included in the category of persons who are now eligible to transmit these rights to their children.

The fee is £188 per applicant, which includes the Citizenship Ceremony fee. If the application is unsuccessful or withdrawn then £68 is refundable.

If you believe you might be entitled to registration, you are welcome to email us details of the circumstances by which your mother acquired her British nationality.

Either you should contact the British embassy/consulate in your country of abode or to contact the British Border & Immigration Agency. There is a section online which explains whom is entitled to hold a British passport. http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/british...

The telephone number is 0845 010 5200 from within the UK and +44 (0)151 672 5626. from outside

Of which origonal birth is your "mom" ?

Does she hold a Brit passport ?

Beware. the UK governement is clamping down on folks that think the UK is an easy ride.

I am anti-racist, and have been the guest of several countries, but you should not assume that given a UK passport proves you to be a Brit

It says on the computer >

    3 types

Right of abode as a Brit (Me)

    Foreign National

    Visitor

    It is in the bar-coding
