  1. That's life.  You have to struggle to get by.  Get used to it now.

  2. If mom has a copy of the policy and the death certificate, that should be all she needs to collect on the policy as long as she is the beneficiary.  It should take no longer than 30 days to receive the check.  Call the carrier and speak to the Claims Dept.  Keep asking for a supervisor if she is having a problem.  The employer should not have anything to do with it.

  3. Call the better business bureau - they could at least point her in the right direction for someone to talk to.

  4. Go over their heads and call the governor or state Representative. my husband is in prison and the VA was messing with my benefits cut them in half . I almost lost my house last time took over two years.  they tried it again  this time I got the governor and a state Representative to help me. I got my benefits in two weeks plus a raise because of my bills.

  5. You need a lawyer, i  recommend  getting a loan from any local bank

  6. You'll need to be a little more specific than vague statements of "dicking around."  Obviously, there's more to the situation.

  7. You complain in writing, about the life insurance, to your state insurance department.  Your dad's employer has NO SAY in the life insurance.  When it DOES get paid, if there's no beneficiary listed, it will go to his ESTATE, so you and your mom won't get it anyway, until after the estate is probated and settled.

Social security is a government program.  If you're a minor, there are survivor benefits due, but it usually takes six months - or longer - for them to start.  Widows don't "inherit" social security benefits before they are of retirement age, though, so I'm not sure what benefits you're complaining about.

And if you love the way social security is treating you, just think about that when people start talking about "goverment health care".
