  1. start calling shelters. Make it clear its only temporary and you're not wanting to release them. They may know of a place that can help you, or they maybe able to. The shelter I volunteer at boards animals for people, this one elderly man, anytime he oes to the hosptial his GSD stays in one of the kennels until he's released..

some pet stores may help to. Even as a last resort. They won't put them down and they don't really sell them. THey just ask that the potential owners buy a certan amount of cat supplies before they take a cat home.

    Good luck,.

  2. cat house

google your city for any local animal shelters

go visit yourself to make sure they're HUMANE

  3. I am so sorry to hear of your situation.....

I'm in Australia - I can't do much from here - But I hope everything turns out ok for you and your family.

Is there someone out there who can stop them from taking your mums house from her while she is ill? You wont need to foster the cats out then.

  4. unfortunately cat foster care doesn't exist.

do you have any friends or relatives willing to take them in?

i know you don't want to put them up for adoption...that would be way to hard =[

good luck tho, i hope you find a place =]

  5. I think your best bet it to see if you have have some friends or family take them in. There are shelters out that that can take the cats I don't think you would get them back when you turn them over to them though. If you have the money put them in a kennel is another option. I don't know where you live but in many states your only allowed up to 5 pets if your over then you might end up in the same situation (keeping kicked out or having to get ride of some of them) Good luck.

  6. Try calling your local animal shelter and asking this question to them or look up animal foster homes in your area on the internet. I am sure you'll find an answer to this if ya research all the possibilities. I am so sorry to hear about your situation and I hope your mother recovers well. If I lived closer to you I would foster them for you. PLease try these things and hope for the best. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.

  7. It isn't true that foster care doesn't exist for cats.  My local SPCA has a foster care program to take care of the overflow since moving days leave thousands of cats and dogs abandoned by owners who are not as caring as you are.  I applaud your efforts, and I am sure if you persist your efforts will be rewarded.  Try contacting your local Humane Society or SPCA, and do a Google search in your area for no kill shelters.  They are the most likely to have foster programs available, though don't rule out the SPCA or the Humane Society without asking.  Your other option, of course, is to try to find people you know and trust to agree to temporarily take in these little creatures until your mother is able to take some or all of them.  Since it is likely that if your mom had to move to an apartment, a logical deduction, you may have to find permanent homes for some or all of them.  I hope I'm wrong.  But in that case you would be well advised to only go with a no-kill shelter regardless of whether they have a fostering program, or with people you know, or people you know through friends.  Try sending an email request to everyone you know and trust, asking them to do the same.  It would be a plus if you could get them all properly vaccinated (or update their vaccines if they are outdoor cats) before handing them off to new owners, or foster parents.  It will be a good protection for them in case they are exposed to new cats or dogs.  If going through a shelter, I believe they will take care of this for you.

BTW, my sympathies, I am so sorry you lost your house, I know how that feels, lost mine last December, but my parents are happy in their new apartment, and hopefully yours will be too.  I wish you and your mom well, it would tear me up to be in the position you're in with your cats.  It can happen to anyone.  All you can do is try, try, try to do your best by them.  They do so much for us just by being, don't they?

    Good luck, and God bless.
