I REALLY hate these income based scholarships.

My mom now makes a bit over $50K a year, but that really doesn't matter. She has had debt for many many years she is still trying to pay off, and if she wasn't in debt, it would be like we were living off 25 K a year, if THAT much. Its just her and me. We've relied on my grandparents to do alot of things for us, my mom just doesn't have the money to spend, even if she makes it, it will go towards paying bills.

Does anyone know if a scholarship (I live in Texas btw) that will provide to those who have considerable financial problems due to debt?

I am sick of finding out that most of the stuff I can't apply for because she makes too much or that I'm white. So what, race doesn't matter when it comes to needing money.

She IS a single mother, there HAS to be something out there for that.

  1. Please don't give up. Maybe you can go to

    http://www.all-about-scholarship.com

    it's about scholarships information.

    Good luck

  2. Your best luck for scholarships will be by looking at your schools scholarships.  Fastweb and sites like that are great, but statistcally, less people apply for the ones locally.

Unfortunatly, there are no scholarships for kids of parents who have bad money management skills.  Go to college and major in accounting, fiance or something similar so you don't follow the same path.

  3. Don't give up hope. There are tons of options out there for you. You can probably apply for financial aid at your college. Financial aid takes into account debt. And you will probably qualify, since my dad makes $90K a year and we qualify. Part of your financial aid package will be a grant, which you will never have to pay back. Private colleges will probably give you more financial aid since they are better funded. Also, you can search for scholarships at www.fastweb.com. Hope this helps!

  4. fafsa.ed.gov is the best place to look.  it has many option and they dont discriminate.  You have grants, loans that have low intrest rates, differment period so you should try that
