  1. Is that all your worried about is going to college for free?? That's pretty pathetic

  2. it means you have a greater chance of getting more money to cover for school. Schools and the federal government factor in a bunch of things to the mix, which ultimately will give you a nice little financial aid "package" after they have reviewed all your information. It may help to get more money, however having a disabled parent won't affect it as much as a deceased parent, since fafsa usually considers that grounds for being considered "independent".

You mom being disabled shows that financially she won't be able to help you like other parents, so this will show up in your "expected family contribution" after all your paperwork is done. The EFC is what determines the amount of money you receive (on your fafsa, that is)

I'm just sorry for your mom :(

  3. My mom is disabled and I got full financial aid but her being disabled isn't a gurantee. I more likely only got full aid because I go to a cheap school, 4 grand a year. If you go to a school that is like 20 grand a year, even though she is disabled, I doubt they will pay it all. There is nothing stopping you from taking out loans so why would they pay the whole thing?

  4. Generally not. But now that her income is less, it is more likely you will be able to get decent federal financial aid. The trick would be to find a school that will grant you some scholarships which combined with your federal financial aid would have your education covered. Very sorry about your mom, by the way.

  5. not if you turn 18
