Question:

My mom is sick, what should I make her for supper?

I had a cold the other day and gave it to my mom.(Sore throat, runny nose, coughing, and possibly a sinus infection.) I'm feeling much better now, so I thought I would surprise her by making dinner tonight. Since her throat hurts, I thought maybe something cold and that's fine with me because its 93 degrees outside. Anyway, what is something I could make. (I'm only 12, so don't tell me to make something gourmet!) Thanks for your help!

  1. First I would like to say that whatever you make your mom, she will appreciate it. Try something like a salad or some kind of sandwich (tuna is always a good choice) being sick, something small and easy to digest is always best.  Hope she feels better soon.  Its good she has you.

  2. Microwave Scrambled Eggs.

    Preparation Time: 2 minutes

Microwave Cooking Time: 3 minutes, plus making toast.

    Serves: 2 people

    Ingredients:

    4 Eggs  (medium)

    15g (1/2oz) Butter

    1T Milk

    Salt

    Hot buttered toast, to serve

    Freshly ground black pepper

2 Parsley sprigs, to garnish (optional)

Place the eggs, milk, salt and pepper to taste in a large jug and beat well. Add the butter. Cook, uncovered, for 3 minutes or until the desired consistency is reached. Break up the mixture and beat gently after every minute. Serve on hot buttered toast garnish with parsley (optional)

  3. What I love when I have a sore throat or mouth pain is a Grape Freeze.  Basically you take frozen grape juice concentrate and whirl it in a blender w/ ice and water.  Soothing, and doesn't burn like OJ can.  Apple also works, if you have that.

Otherwise, she might just enjoy a mug of chicken soup from a can.  Just add 1 can of water to 1 can of condensed soup (like Campbell's), heat up on stove or in microwave, and serve w/ some saltine crackers.

Whatever you do, she'll appreciate your sweetness.

  4. Hearty canned chicken noodle soup (like progresso brand), bread, and some gatorade would do pretty nicely.

  5. I would make a warm but not hot soup like Tomato soup. Or if you have just chicken broth (no noodles) warm that up.

Also, if you have any fruit, chill it and give it to her in a small bowl as a side.  No apples though cause that make scratch her throat.

Jello is also easy on the throat.  So if you have the time to make that it would probably be good for her.

Look in your kitchen and see if you can find some tea and honey.  If you have the tea heat it up and serve. If you also have honey put some in it and mix well.  Honey is good for the throat.  But, if she doesn't like tea maybe make her some coffee?
