My mom is trying adopt my two cousins?

Question

There mom sign her right away today.

The children have been in foster care for the past year w/ the same family.

What are some things that might happen in the posseces of trying to sdopt the boys.

My mom is cleared threw the state and every thing.

Im 15 and i just wonderd are they going to like queastion me.

How long could it take and do they try to place the children with family before others?

Depends on the state. Many states (including mine) will ask, "where were you a year ago and durring all this time they were in care?" After a year these children are settled into their new home and the court looks into what is best for the children. They do prefer to place with family but not always if it means ripping kids from a stable home. If the foster family doesn't want to adopt them though, then your mom will most likely get them. Yes if you live with your mom, they will want to speak with you. At least they are supposed too. If your mom and her home already cleared with CPS and the foster parents and courts are not going to fight this then they should be placed with your mom right away.

They will ask you about how you are disciplend, (hitting, punishments, etc.) they will ask about your relationship with your parents, they will ask about your parents relationship with each other, your relationship with any other siblings,they will want to see your report cards, they will want to know how you would feel to have two new kids in the house, they will discuss possible issues that may come up with your cousins and how you may handle different situations.

Since your mom is already cleared with the state and she is a relative willing to adopt the children she has a very good chance. Has she contacted their social worker yet? They may require a short transition period between foster family and adoptive family but since your family already know the children the time frame may be much shorter.
